Can I buy files for my 3d Printer here?

At this time, no. While the Studio does have some Pending Printable Projects in the works, at this time, we do not provide STL or OBJ files of any of the models here. But we are more than happy to direct you to the original creators of those files to purchase them directly! See individual item pages for links to the original creator!

A lot of your files I found on Thingiverse! Are you stealing?

At Black Bard Studios, we take creator’s rights VERY seriously. All models we offer to print we have either acquired the legal rights to do so via a merchant agreement with the creator, or are explicitly listed as commercially allowed on sites like Thingiverse. We do our very best to make sure a file is legal to sell, including checking if it was remixed from non-commercial sources. Sometimes a creator may change their mind regarding the commercial status of a model; in that event, as soon as we become aware of the change, we will alter the listing accordingly. Additionally, we run a quarterly check of all files sold, and send 5% of the list price as a commission to the original creator for any files not part of a preexisting agreement.

Ok, but what if I want one of those “non-commercial” files, or one from a creator you don’t have a merchant agreement with?

We are more than happy to “print on demand” special requests beyond what we have listed in our inventory, where we charge a baseline per hour fee for the printing service. You will need to provide us with the file, usually by email or Dropbox. We will not ask for proof of purchase, but we do not condone piracy of any sort. If it comes to our attention that piracy has occurred, we will immediately halt the order and inform the original creator. This applies to ourselves as well: we claim no ownership of files sent to us for print-on-demand orders, we will not print any extra models beyond what is required to fulfill the order, and said files will be deleted from our systems when the order is completed.

I’m a creator and I found my work on your site and want it off!

No problem! Send us an email letting us know who you are and what listings you want removed. Once we can reasonably confirm your identity as the creator, we will immediately take down the listings.

Can I get my order painted?

Absolutely! Our listings have a sub-listing for a painted version, with the additional fees for doing so and a form for describing how you want it painted. If you don’t see this on an item, its likely an oversight on our part; please email us so we can fix it!

How fast can I get my order?

Crafting takes time, and outside of convention season we don’t maintain a large backstock of items. Casting dental stone takes time to dry and and cure, and many 3d models can take anywhere from a few hours to dozens of hours to print. As an example, the Oakenspire Airship takes an average of 120 hours. We have enough printers to run parts in parallel, but some of the components simply can’t be done in less than 12 hours. We will do our best to get printed parts out to you as quickly as possible, but in the case of large or painted orders, maintenance, vacations, or any other delay, we will contact you with an estimated timeline of your order. We appreciate your patience in this!
